What is a recognition of prior learning?

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process that recognises experience, independent study, or credit obtained at the same or other teaching institutions. RPL is granted to students who demonstrate that they have met the required learning outcomes established for a course.

The benefits to a student in undertaking RPL include:

  • Professional assessment and evaluation of prior learning and/or experience
  • Provides a fast track to completion of further study and training through recognition of past achievements
  • There are potential time and money savings by full or partial exemptions.

Cost

You will be charged $100 per course that is recognised up to the value of $500 (5 courses).View the Recognition of Prior Learning Policy here.

To go through the RPL Process you will initially be invoiced for a $100 admin fee. This helps to cover the time taken by our team to work through your transcripts and match these against the courses to reach an outcome for you. If you finalise the RPL process and enrol with us the $100 fee that was paid will be taken off your final invoice (1 course will not be charged).

How Do I Apply for RPL?

Choose your qualification and apply

Head on over to Our Programmes to select your programme and complete an online application form.

Complete the Recognition of Prior Learning Form

Complete our short form here which will advise our team of your intention to apply for RPL. This must be done no later than four weeks before the semester start date or you run the risk of waiting until the next semester start.

  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

We will contact you

  • Within 7 days of receiving your application we will contact you to outline the details of the qualification and the Recognition of Prior Learning process
  • We will email you the relevant forms to collect all the information we need to move forward with your application. This includes an invoice for $100 admin fee.
  • You will need to provide your evidence and pay the $100 fee into our account within 14 days of receiving the relevant forms.

Confirmation

We will email you the outcome of your Recognition of Prior Learning application – this will include an invoice for the remaining amount if you were successful in more than one courses.
