OPPORTUNITY TO GRANDFATHER TO FULL MEMBERSHIP ON QUALIFICATION COMPLETION WHERE A CONTINUOUS STUDENT MEMBER

1st Feb 2021

To: Naturopathic College of NZ Students

Naturopaths & Medical Herbalists of NZ (Inc.) are providing students enrolled at NCNZ in 2021 in a naturopathic qualification a pathway to grandfathering to full membership with our association on completion of their NCNZ naturopathic qualification.

As of January 1st, 2021, NMHNZ (Inc) increased its education standards to a three-year bachelor’s degree to all new membership, and which moves to a four-year bachelor’s degree by 2025. NCNZ is currently undertaking three-year naturopathic bachelor’s degree development and it is envisaged that when this comes into being many advanced diploma students will take this qualification option. On this basis and in good faith, NMHNZ (Inc) will grandfather current students into full membership, with the prerequisite that the student must have joined NMHNZ (Inc) as a student member in 2021 and must maintain student membership with NMHNZ (Inc) through to completion of their NCNZ naturopathic qualification (advanced diploma or degree).
On completion of your NCNZ qualification, students who have held continuous student membership with NMHNZ (Inc) as of 2021, will be invited to become full members of the association.
Naturopathy as a profession is in a transitional phase of development. We envisage in the coming decade that higher education pathways (masters, PhD) will open up as naturopathy professionalises.

We look forward to welcoming you as a student member and future contributing full member on qualification.
